Lasker dominated Mieses, winning five, drawing three, losing none (+5, -0, =3). Encouraged by these victories over Bardeleben and Mieses, Lasker crossed the English Channel for the first time a month later, heading to Liverpool for a match with the famous English master, Henry Bird.
